Right to Know Law Act 3 of 2008
What Not To Flush
Many items should not be flushed down the commode, including:
- Wipes: Even if they say they are flushable, wipes can clog pipes and pumps.
- Fats, oils, and grease: These can build up in pipes and cause clogs that can lead to sewer breaks or back up into streets.
- Medication: Unused or expired prescription or over-the-counter medications should not be flushed.
- Hazardous waste: This includes household products like paints, pesticides, and cleaning products, as well as car and garage products like motor oil and antifreeze.
- Gum: Gum is sticky and insoluble, so it can clog pipes and cause other issues.
- Other items: This includes band-aids, cotton balls, dental floss, diapers, hair, kitty litter, paper towels, rags, cigarette butts, vapes, syringes, feminine products, and plastic.
